"At the January 21st meeting of the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Directors voted to endorse the efforts of the White Mountain Aquatic Foundation. We are enthusiastic about the potential for a world-class aquatic center providing aquatic education,
recreation, safety, competition, fitness and rehabilitative programs for the citizens of Mt. Washington Valley and our millions of visitors. The possibility of an Aquatic Center as another facet in the gem we know as Mt Washington Valley is a worthy idea and one that the Chamber of Commerce supports."

Early September, 2009
Board vice-president Maury McKinney plans and completes the first-ever doubleswim crossing of Lake Winnipesaukee - a 24+ hour, 42 mile endeavor. He uses the feat not just as a personal physical and mental challenge, but a means to raise public awareness of the White Mountain
Aquatic Center project. He also challenges 15 local individuals or businesses (he Fabulous Fifteen) to contribute $2,500 each and help the WMAF finance a facility feasibility study. Read more about Maury's swim at Smile of the Great Spirit and Amazing Journey.
Mid-September, 2009
Close on the heels of Maury's swim, board president Jim Soroka headed to Wisconsin to take part in his first Ironman Triathlon. Jim used his event to raise the profile of the Aquatic Center and to do some fundraising too. We're happy to report that Jim survived his Ironman
experience and is fired-up to improve on his time in 2010. Check out Jim's entertaining race report.
