McKinney Completes Record Swim of Lake Winnipesauke

Maury McKinney entered the water in Center Harbor, NH at 6:40 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2nd and didn't complete his journey until he reemerged from the waters of New Hampshire's largest lake on Thursday, September 3rd at 8:58 a.m. after travelling across the longest span of the lake to Alton Bay and returning to his starting point. In between was a nearly 27 hour journey of joys and exhilarations, pains and struggles. A journey of discovery and learning more of one's self, family and friends. A magnificent achievement of human muscle and will. And yet, through it all, the message wasn't about self, but was about community and safety and how connected we are to water and how wonderful an aquatic facility could be for our Mount Washington Valley.

Please feel free to explore Maury's journey with us through pictures and words and video. We will be posting additional items soon. Enjoy.
